Doesn’t matter what part of the country they’re in, whether it’s buyers moving into our San Jose, CA homes, Denver, CO homes or homes anywhere else there’s a Taylor Morrison community, they report that the process is fun, exciting—and exhausting, especially with children. But there are things you can do to make the situation better for both you and your kids.
Tip 1: Let kids pack some of their own things. This gives them a sense of being involved instead of feeling that the whole experience is happening to them.
Tip 2: If you can’t show them your new house in person, share photos, especially of their bedrooms, and draw a rough map of the home’s layout.
Tip 3: Ask a friend or relative to watch the kids for you on moving day so they can have fun and be safe, and you can concentrate on the task at hand.
Tip 4: Once you’ve moved, ease the kids into the change by having one of their old neighborhood friends over to play once or twice early on.
Tip 5: Take the kids to see their new school when it isn’t in session to help alleviate those “first day” jitters.
