Want to do something more than the usual dozen roses and box of chocolates Valentine’s Day? Go beyond the status quo this year and add the surprise factor into the mix. Here are some of our favorite ideas for a fun Valentine’s Day.

 Share the Love

Tango for two – Sign up for dance instruction and learn a new style. Choose the type of dance you’d like, but you have to admit: the tango is very romantic.
Picnic by the fireplace – Light some candles, get the fire going and have a romantic evening in the glow of the fireplace. Sip wine and enjoy some chocolates together.
Create a personalized gift card – What makes your significant other feel pampered? Give him or her a homemade gift card that entitles them to something they’d love.
First date redux – Remember that first date the two of you went on? Recreate the evening or event that brought you closer together.
Have a couples’ game night – Invite other couples over for a fun evening of board games or charades. Have some appetizers on hand. Allrecipes.com has some yummy out-of-the-ordinary ideas.
    Valentines Activities
Mix special cocktails – Whether you’re hanging with friends or have the night to yourselves, these Valentine’s Day cocktails will complete the evening.
Enjoy the great outdoors – Reclaim an outdoors activity you love. Go skiing, ride horses or hike your favorite trails. Sometimes with the pressure of family and work, we forget to get out and enjoy nature.
Have a couple’s massage – Unwind together at a local spa with a massage for two. Spafinder.com tells you what to expect, helps you find a spa and provides gift certificates.
Enjoy a romantic getaway – If you have the time and budget, why not go all out and book a weekend at a faraway and fabulous spa? Forbes.com shares some incredible options from around the world.
Say “I love you” – Write a poem, put it in a Valentine’s Day card and give it to your sweetie along with a heartfelt “I love you.” It’s a simple, old-fashioned idea that goes beautifully with an evening in or special date out, and it never goes out of style.
