The 4th of July is more than just a time to celebrate our nation’s birthday. Independence Day weekend is the official kickoff for summer fun from sea to shining sea.
Taylor Morrison would like to wish you and yours a fantastic fourth by putting together these seven awesome ideas for ensuring this holiday is the finest one yet.
Bust Out the Old Wire Brush
It’s time to dust the cobwebs off the barbecue and start marinating all your favorites.
Whether you’re into chicken, ribs, chops, steaks or veggie burgers, everything tastes a little better fresh off a piping hot grill.
Don’t forget the potato salad!
Mosey on Down to the Beach
Tap into your inner patriot and do your own rendition of George Washington crossing the Delaware – but with a sea kayak and an ice cold one. Nothing screams summer getaway better than a trip to the beach.
Don’t forget to consult our handy beach day checklist.
Crash, Bang, Boom
For many the 4th of July means fireworks. Remember to stay safe and sane and to check with local authorities from your area as to which fireworks are permitted to be lit off and where.
Call your local City Hall to find out where the nearest public fireworks display is to be held.
Be kind to your pets as many dogs and cats are terrified of loud noises.
Cheer for Team USA!
Gather round the television on Sunday to root on the USA Women’s Soccer team as they take on Japan in the finals of the 2015 World Cup in Vancouver, Canada.
Kickoff is at 4pm Pacific Time.
Catch Up with Old Friends
Two’s company and three’s a crowd. Why not grab a stack of folding chairs from the garage and invite a few friends over to make the celebration all the merrier.
Ode to Old Glory!
If Pinterest can do it, you can, too. Why not serve a red, white and blue flag cake to showcase your love for America?
With a few drops of food coloring and a touch of imagination your creation could be the talk of the neighborhood.
Hint: Blueberries and red raspberries are an extra fun way to add taste and flair to your Independence Day dessert.
Crafts for the Kids
Not all 4th of July goodies need to be prepared in advance. If you’re having a bunch of kids over at the house consider buying supplies for a nifty patriotic craft day.
Giving the kids something to do keeps them from asking every five minutes when the fireworks start!
However your family celebrates the 4th, we sincerely hope you have the best one ever.
