The longer days of summer are here and it’s time to give your home some TLC. Get your summer home maintenance chores out of the way and put your best home forward when family and friends come by for your annual barbecue and pool party.
If you own a new Taylor Morrison home your work will undoubtedly be quick, but checking these chores off your list is still advised.
Air Conditioning
As an Austin, TX homebuilder, we know that in communities like Founders Ridge, the AC can get a lot of use in the summer. The same goes for any city in warmer climates. Be sure to change out dirty vent filters. If the AC doesn’t seem to be running cool or your electric bills are high, it may need to be tuned up, so have it inspected.
Plumbing
Check for faucet leaks on the inside and outside of your home. If you see any evidence of a leak, tighten fittings up if you can or call a plumber.
Windows
Investigate inside and out to make sure the sealants and weather-stripping aren’t compromised. Seal and replace where needed.
Roof
Inspect the roof for leaks or loose shingles and make any needed repairs. Check and clean the gutters.
Exterior
Pressure wash your home’s exterior to remove dirt and mildew.
Pool
If you live in Sacramento, CA in communities such as Grammercy, you probably have a pool. Make sure it’s summer-friendly and inviting. Clean it out and check the water level. Check to see if the pumps are working correctly and that the chemicals are balanced.
Regular maintenance can keep your new home in tip-top condition and minimize repair costs. For an overview of the entire year, see our Maintenance Tips and Schedules.
