Taylor Morrison Employee Spotlight – Dennis Ouellette

As a new division, Taylor Morrison Dallas is made up of a team that’s ready to succeed. Dennis Ouellette, vice president of operations for Taylor Morrison Dallas, is a seasoned executive in the construction industry. As an experienced leader and father of four, Ouellette understands what it takes to make any team succeed, whether that’s at work or at home.

“I joined the Taylor Morrison family in June,” Ouellette said. “Here at Taylor Morrison I am surrounded by intelligent, motivated people who are always, one-hundred percent of the time, willing to share whatever they know to help anyone else be successful.”

To help propel their team forward, Ouellette says he enjoys reading historical biographies. Learning about real life leaders and their perseverance inspires him.

“History is full of regular people rising to amazing challenges,” Ouellette said. “It’s the challenges and opportunities that get me out of bed in the morning.”

When describing what his days look like, he acknowledges that every day is different saying, “I’ll check in with my team members individually to learn about their day, then I’ll attend various meetings involving both short and long term strategy around land, production, customer, product, etc.”

“Being that we are a ‘start-up’ division, there countless decisions to be made,” Ouellette said. “We’re looking at every single aspect of this business and searching for the ‘one best way’ to operate.”

When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, which includes Alison, his wife of 23 years and their four children, Caleb, 19, Ian, 18, Kyle, 16 and Mae, 13.

“With two away at college, Alison and I prioritize spending time with the other two while we still have them around,” Ouellette said. “They’ll be off to college one day very soon.”

Ouellette also enjoys ice hockey. The first thing he does when he moves to a new city is join a team.

“It’s great exercise and usually a great group of guys. I still play at least once a week,” Ouellette said.

As the division continues to grow, Ouellette knows he’s ready for what’s to come as vice president of operations for Taylor Morrison Dallas.

“Taylor Morrison is honorable, ambitious and continuously improving,” Ouellette states.

“There is an expectation here at Taylor Morrison that all of us working here are valued and in turn we all place a premium on the awesome responsibility of keeping that customer experience at the forefront of every decision we make. Even when no one’s looking.”
