A recent study shows that Americans’ love for their pets impacted several parts of the home buying, selling and owning experience. Last year more than $66 billion was spent on pets in the U.S., with $70 billion projected for 2017.
Results of the Study
- 89 percent of pet owners say they would not give up their pet because of a housing restriction
- 81 percent of Americans say their pets play a role in their housing situation
- 31 percent of animal owners did not put in an offer on a home because it was not a good situational fit for their animals
- 19 percent of Americans say they would think about moving for their pet
- 12 percent have moved for their pet
