6 Ways to Get into the Holiday Spirit in Carrollton, Texas

We can’t believe that 2018 is almost over and that the most magical time of the year is already upon us. As everyone is gearing up for the holidays, planning their parties and marking gifts off their shopping lists, it’s important to stop for a minute and enjoy the spirit of the season within the community you call home.

Every community has its own special ways of celebrating the holidays, but Carrollton, Texas is something special. Here you’ll find the holiday spirit and cheer to be contagious. Plus, if you’re looking for ideas to add a little extra magic to your holiday season, Carrollton offers plenty of festive attractions.

Here are just a few of our favorite things to see and do in Carrollton during the holidays.

Old Fashioned Christmas In Carrollton

If there’s one holiday attraction that you absolutely can’t miss, it’s the Old Fashioned Christmas in Carrollton. The popular annual holiday celebration highlights the goodwill and cheer of an old-fashioned Victorian-era Christmas.

This family-friendly event features Victorian carolers and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus. What’s really great about this event, is that it really does have something for everyone. Lovers of architect and those who are interested in the history of the community will enjoy touring the historic 1909 Perry Home – which also happens to be decked out in festive decorations that will transport your right back into the holiday magic you experienced as a child.

There is also plenty to keep the little ones busy with lots of treats, crafts and an abundance of holiday cheer to go around.

Brookhaven Bell Choir

There’s nothing that will get you in the holiday spirit like listening to the magical sound of your favorite holiday songs being played out on bells. The Brookhaven Bell Choir is sure to infuse you with the spirit of the season with their performance at the Carrollton Public Library at Josey Ranch Lake.

Listen to cherished holiday favorites – both modern and traditional. Bring a crowd or stop off and grab a nice warm beverage to sip on and enjoy the concert while you indulge in a little essential holiday “me time” to refresh your spirit.

A Holiday Symphony

When you’re in the mood for holiday music, but classical is more your style, then you’ll want to make sure to not miss the Carrollton Wind Symphony Holiday Concert.

This completely free event happens on December 14 at the Creekview High School. The Carrollton Wind Symphony is composed of volunteer musicians from the community. It’s their love of symphonic art that makes it possible for you to enjoy this annual Carrollton holiday tradition.

Santa on The Square

If you’re a family with little ones, then you know firsthand how the excitement of the season can overwhelm them. It’s a magical time, but we also know you wouldn’t mind if they were able to run off some of that extra holiday spirit. Santa on the Square is the event that will get them excited about the holidays and get them moving to burn off a little extra energy.

The event starts with the annual Kid’s Santa Dash where the youngest residents of Carrollton get to chase Mr. Claus around the streets of the downtown district. Of course, parents, older siblings or another chaperone are welcome to participate in the event as well. Strollers are also permitted for the littlest Santa Dash participants. Registration is required, but even if you don’t choose to participate, watching the dash is a fun holiday event in itself. As a perk, participants get a special gift from Santa and a priority place in line for photos with the jolly bearded man after the event.

You’ll want to stick around after the Santa Dash for free pancakes until noon, festive holiday music, a mini photo shoot with Santa inside the Gazebo, live reindeer and plenty of shopping opportunities to knock a few more gifts off your holiday shopping list.

A Winter Wonderland in Carrollton

While parts of northern Texas get a little snow from time to time, it isn’t exactly the winter wonderland that is portrayed in just about every holiday movie. Just because you enjoy a climate that is a little more accommodating to year-round bliss doesn’t mean that you should miss out on the chance to enjoy a little snow during the holidays.

For a fun holiday adventure, grab a few friends or your family and head to the giant 15-foot snow globe located in downtown Carrollton. The community attraction makes the perfect backdrop for your holiday photos or a few fun selfies to post on social media. The best part about the giant, inflatable snow globe? No hats and mittens required!
