Celebrate the Holidays with These Top Festive Activities
The holiday season is officially here, which means social calendars everywhere are filling up to maximum capacity. While holiday parties and get-togethers are one of the best parts of the season, you also want to relax and enjoy special time with your closest friends and family.
In a tightknit community like Haslet, this is something that’s easy to do.
The town of Haslet gathers every year to kick off the holidays with their Christmas in the Park Celebration. But now that this event has passed, you might be wondering about the other special ways you can celebrate the holidays. If you’re looking to create new holiday traditions and memories that last a lifetime, here are 4 activities in or near Haslet to add to your list.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
What are your favorite Christmas Eve traditions?
Some people celebrate the actual holiday on Christmas Eve, while others are rushing around tying the last bows on gifts and filling stockings once everyone has gone to sleep. With the culmination of the holiday season happening during the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve is the perfect time to stop and reflect on everything the Christmas and the holiday season mean to you.
Fellowship of the Parks – Haslet Campus presents their Family Winter Wonderland and Candle Lighting Services on Christmas Eve. The candlelight services are approximately 45 minutes long, with 4 sessions scheduled during the afternoon and early evening – making it easy to immerse yourself in the spirit of the season without adding another to-do to your already busy Christmas Eve night.
From 1:30-7pm they’ll also be hosting their Family Winter Wonderland event. This event is filled with all the heartwarming classics of winter, including a chance to play in the snow, make S’mores and drink steamy hot chocolate. A petting zoo is also provided so you and yours can spread a little holiday cheer to our animal friends as well.
Cookies with Santa
What are the holidays without a stop by to visit the man of the hour, Santa Claus?
Fort Worth is a short drive down the road from Haslet, and also happens to be one of the favorite local cities for holiday shoppers. If you’re planning on making the trip to Fort Worth, you’ll want to take the time to stop by the Thomas Community Center on December 8, 2018, to have cookies and fun with Santa Claus.
While at the two-hour event, you can fill your up on cookies and hot chocolate while enjoying the company of Mr. Claus. He’ll also be available for pictures, so you’ll have a lasting memento of the day.
Think this is the type of event that’s just for kids?
While there are sure to be plenty of little ones trying to get a peek at Santa, adults are encouraged to attend with or without children. Santa has agreed to take pictures with children, adults, and pets alike so you can bring all your friends or family, including the furry variety for an afternoon of fun and festivities.
Ladies Holiday High Tea
Ladies, are you looking forward to a special afternoon with your best girls to celebrate the holidays, but aren’t sure where to go?
Instead of meeting at one of the usual spots, make this year’s holiday girl-time get together more memorable by attending a special holiday event for ladies only.
On Saturday, December 8 The Rose Garden Tearoom in Fort Worth will host its Ladies Holiday High Tea. The Rose Garden Tearoom is southern elegance defined. Their typical tea service and the menu is exceptional, however, for their Holiday High Tea, they somehow manage to elevate the experience even further.
This year’s holiday high tea features a special holiday menu and tea offerings that have been thoughtfully created to highlight the tastes and aromas of the holiday season. The Holiday High Tea is the perfect event for an afternoon with your best friends, sisters or to start a new tradition with your own daughters.
Christmas Eve Breakfast with Santa
We all know how busy the holidays can be. Even on the weekends, when the pace of life normally slows down to something more manageable, it seems there is a never-ending list of things to cross off the to-do list. When your schedule is so busy, it’s easy to let the basics – like breakfast – slip to last priority.
On Christmas Eve, when you’ve probably got an itinerary that spans from the break of dawn until the stroke of midnight, why not take a little time to start your morning right by having breakfast with Santa? The Annual MVPN Christmas Eve Celebration happens in Lewisville starting at 9am. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a few minutes with Santa as he fuels up for his big night ahead.
The morning festivities are expected to be lively and family oriented, with lots of festive fun, games, door prizes and gifts for children age 19 or younger. But, since Santa is going to need all the energy he can get, there will also be a lunch with the jolly man in red following the breakfast. The luncheon event is geared toward adults, or families with older children who will are there to enjoy the holiday spirit in a more low-key, relaxed environment. The event is free for service members, veterans, family and MVPN volunteers. Registration is required.
