We know that some of you still need or wish to move during these challenging times. Before you hit the panic button, take a deep breath and relax. While the process of purchasing a new home has certainly changed drastically over the last week, Taylor Morrison has been fast at work to do whatever we can to help guide your path through uncharted waters.
This reality is new for you. It’s new for us, too. But with over 100 years in the home building business, we know a few things about pivoting, adjusting and helping Americans find the home of their dreams in a changing world.
In this post, we’ll provide valuable tips for navigating a new home purchase during the coronavirus rule changes by state. From arranging financing to finding the home you want, taking a tour and closing the deal in a way that’s both safe for you and for your community.
We’re here for you. Together, we’ll get through this.
Start the Process Early
Some of you already know you need to move soon and have made the commitment to move forward to the next step. The sooner you get your papers together, the better. While submitting a pre-application to your lender is a good idea during normal times, it’s especially important now. Getting your loan approved is taking longer than usual for several reasons, including a larger than normal number of refinancing applications, employees working from home and other challenges/delays caused by social distancing practices.
Start the process now. It doesn’t cost anything and being pre-approved makes the rest of the buying process go much more smoothly.
What’s the Situation Where You Want to Buy
The reality of the pandemic on the ground is fluid and changing. Not every state is affected with the same severity of cases and government recommendations and shutdowns vary across the country.
Taylor Morrison sales team are available for 1:1 walkthroughs in every state where we build. To arrange a private tour of any of our homes, schedule an appointment.

Take Advantage of Virtual Tours
Now more than ever, leveraging technology during your home search is a fantastic way to stay safe while finding a home you’ll love. You can visit many of our homes and floor plans virtually through 360-degree virtual tours online.
Virtual tours offer several advantages above and beyond being safe:
- Efficiency: Virtual tours help you save time. You can explore a selection of floor plans online and narrow down your choices before scheduling a 1:1 appointment.
- Spend time on what you want: With a traditional home tour you can sometimes feel rushed. When touring online, you choose how much time to spend looking at each room in the house.
- No geographic restrictions: Virtual tours make it easy to explore homes in different communities, different cities and different states. All from the comfort of your couch.
You’ll notice a red announcement bar at the top of every page at taylormorrison.com. From here you can access virtual tours with just one click, schedule an appointment with an Internet Home Consultant or read through our COVID-19 safety protocols. Close the announcement bar anytime by clicking the white X icon in the far right corner of the page. We also added a permanent “Virtual Tours” link in the navigation bar on all of our pages.
Request a Virtual Appointment
Our internet home consultants are here to help you practice social distancing and find your dream home virtually. Get in touch and we can arrange a 1:1 private viewing (subject to change) with a knowledgeable community sales manager on location or a virtual appointment where you can live chat or talk over the phone as you go through virtual tours. You can ask questions and learn more about each home as you go.
Flexibility for Closing – Making Moves Together
Normally, closing on a house is done in person with a notary present. During this time, and depending on the county rules and regulations, we may be able to close digitally. Ask us. We’re here to help.
Curbside Closings – This is the latest trend our own title company, Inspired Title Services, has immediately put in motion. Homebuyers can park outside the title office where a notary delivers their closing documents and witnesses signatures from outside the vehicle—all while maintaining six feet of distance. We’re proud of our team for adapting to a new way of closing and continuing to keep our customers safe.
Come Home to a Place Where Community Means Something
We understand that a lot of Americans are scared right now, and these are understandably emotional times. As hard as it might be, do your best to set your emotions aside and analyze only the facts when making the final decision to buy a home at this time.
Everyone needs a cost-effective place to live. We’re here to help you buy yours.
