Fun Runs Near Taylor Morrison Communities

As the weather warms up to spring, 5K fundraising runs begin to heat up, bringing attention and funding to non-profit causes all across the country. Whether you participate as a runner or a volunteer, these are great events for helping others and having fun. Here are some events near Taylor Morrison communities.

5K

ARIZONA

Phoenix

The PurpleStride Phoenix 5K run and family-friendly walk comes to town March 22 to benefit the fight against pancreatic cancer. Besides the timed run and untimed walk there will be kids’ activities, music, refreshments and more.

On March 28, Stride for Sight presents a 10K run, 5K run and 1 mile walk at US Airways Center. The fundraiser will also feature a Blindfold Challenge where two-person teams with one blindfolded while guided by a sighted guide.

CALIFORNIA   

Bay Area

Homeowners in our Brighton community are near the April 12 Dionysus Dash Livermore 5K run/walk through Concannon Vineyards. Wine tasting, music and awards will be part of the day.

If you live in a home or townhouse in Campbell or one of our other Bay Area communities, you can join in the Armed Forces Day 2015 for a day of running, walking, classic cars, music, food and more on May 16 at Lake Cunningham Park.

Sacramento

There’ll be a number of runs during the Capital City Classic on April 26. Medals will be awarded for 10 mile finishers, 5 year age division, and participants of the 5K, 12K and 2.62 mile races.

An option just for kids is the Positive Energy Kids Triathlon in Davis on May 31. The event for kids 3 to 8 years incorporates exercise.

Southern California

On April 18, the 6th Annual Colony 5K Run/Walk around historic Anaheim High School will generate funds for the school’s Associated Student Body.

Owners of our Costa Mesa homes will have the Orange County Marathon 5K, May 6, practically in their back yards. Full and half marathons will also be held.

Disneyland Resort will be the site of the 2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend starting May 7. Runs include 5K, 10K, 1 mile and half marathon.

COLORADO

Denver

The Brain Tumor Alliance Denver 5K at Sloans Lake Park will help the organization provide emotional and financial support for families affected by brain tumors. The run will be held on April 4.

Hippity Hop Easter Trot & Kid’s Cottontail Fun Run will also be held on April 4. Central Park in Stapleton will be the site for a day of family fun and will include a 5K/10K. Proceeds will go to Denver School of Science and Technology.

FLORIDA

Fort Myers/Naples

If you’re ready to be blasted with color while you run, you’ll love the Fort Myers Color Vibe 5K Run. This fun and quirky event will invade Lee Civic Center on April 4, and a colorful time will be had by all.

Get ready for the 3rd Annual 5K Run/2 Mile Walk to support head and neck cancer patients in Southwest Florida. The event happens on April 11 at Lakes Regional Park.

Help make wishes come true at the 5th Annual Walk for Wishes 5K Walk/Run on April 18. Proceeds go to grant wishes to community children fighting life-threatening medical conditions.

Jacksonville

A portion of your registration fee at The Human Race will go to the non-profit of your choice. Registrants will be entered to win a cash prize of $5,000 in the Birdies for Charity contest; HandsOn Jacksonville will also receive a $5,000 prize. The event will be at St. Johns Town Center on April 4.

The April 28 4th Annual Strides for Pride 5K Run/Walk supports the local LGBT and Ally community. A celebration will be held at Bold City Brewery immediately following the race.

Orlando

Support wounded service men and women at the 6th annual Wounded Warrior Lone Sailor 5K & 10K. The April 4 event will be held at Blue Jacket Park.

Also on April 4, the Pig Run of Lake Nona 2015 will help support Nemours Children’s Hospital Child Life program, which provides gifts to help young patients pass the time during their visits. Runners in the unusual 3.1-mile challenge will get to eat donuts along the way.

Sarasota

The Pinwheel 5K Run/Walk on April 4 includes races for adults and kids. The fun family-oriented event will take place at Nathan Benderson Park.

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is the site of Run to Remember 5K for Senior Wellness, April 25. A kids’ tent with face painting, clowns, activities and healthy snacks will be part of the festivities. Proceeds will benefit residents and their families at Pines of Sarasota.

Tampa

The Journey To Cure a Hero Race 2015 on April 4 will feature a 5K, 1 mile and more at Al Lopez Park. Hero or super hero costumes are encouraged. The family-oriented charity event will benefit St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.

All proceeds from the Run for Hope 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk go towards the therapies and medical expenses of five-year-old Mattie Hope Spinner, who was diagnosed with a brain injury and, at 8 months old, with cerebral palsy. The April 18 run will occur at Lake Park in Lutz.

Ryan’s Run, to be held April 17 in Ybor City, benefits the Ryan McCall Memorial Fund. Proceeds will go towards a scholarship for a Hillsborough County High School student that has the same work ethic and principles demonstrated by the foundation’s name sake, the late rising athlete Ryan McCall.

TEXAS

Austin

Run with Rex proceeds will support Rex Ryan, a little boy who has had several major surgeries, numerous rounds of chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant and over 40 blood product transfusions. To be held on April 11 at Austin State Supported Living Center.

Runners of all levels of experience will participate in the 5th Annual Leander Lion 5K & 1K Cub Run on April 25. Races will take place on a closed course on the Leander High School campus.

Choose the organization cause or person you want to represent at the Run for Your Life Austin 5K Run/Walk on April 25. The event will be held at LifeAustin Church.

Houston

A festival and 5K will benefit Shaggy Dog Rescue. The April 11 event at Stude Park will feature a 5K with Pup Fun Run. Bring the whole family, including your (leashed) dog.

Halo House Foundation presets the Halo House 5K. The fundraising event raises funds for Halo House, which houses leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma patients undergoing cancer treatment at Texas Medical Center. The race begins on MD Anderson Blvd. on April 25.

Spring for Life 5K Run/Walk, scheduled for May 2 this year, raises funds for ovarian cancer research and raises awareness about the disease and its symptoms.
