“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America,” predicted John Adams, who signed the Declaration of Independence and later became president of the United States.
He almost got it right. Americans celebrate on the 4th of July, the date the resolution was signed, rather than the 2nd, when it was approved. Today, Independence Day remains one of our favorite holidays. In the spirit of the celebration, all of us at Taylor Morrison wish you a safe and happy 4th of July.
Fireworks are the stars of the day, but grilling comes first. Americans consume 150 million hot dogs and 700 million pounds of chicken at their Independence Day barbecues. Many get creative with red, white and blue to set the stage, with everything from place settings, to candles and yummy desserts.
After enjoying massive amounts of barbecue and potato salad, it’s time to “ooh” and “ah” at a fireworks display. If you have a home in Houston, you can take in the awesome festivities of Freedom Over Texas at Eleanor Tinsley Park. Up on Lake Michigan, not far from your new home in Chicago, experience spectacular fireworks synchronized to music at Navy Pier.
Wherever you live, have a wonderful 4th of July with family and friends!
