Five Can’t-Miss Attractions in Celina, Texas

We think Texas is beautiful all year round, but there’s something about summer that’s special. There just seems to be a more relaxed, low key energy to summer that’s perfect for exploring new parts of the city you call home.

In at Light Farms in Celina, enjoying these summer days and finding something to do in the community is easy. Yes, there’s a small town vibe, but you don’t need the bright lights and high energy of the city to find attractions that are worth your attention.

In fact, there’s plenty to explore in Celina, and this summer is a great time to do it. We’ve put some thought into our favorite Celina attractions and came up with five that you’re not going to want to miss.

1. Historic Downtown Celina

Your first stop in Celina, before you do anything else, should be to explore the historic downtown area, including the “Square”. You’ll find that during the summer and throughout the year, the historic downtown area is the primary location for many of the local community events that take place.

It’s one spot in Celina that you’ll want to get well acquainted with.

Don’t worry, doing this is easy. You’ll want to spend the entire day wandering along the streets and doing a little window shopping with the districts unique merchants. With shops like Celina’s Custom Jewelry and Cherry’s Antiquibles, it’s easy to lose track of time.

You’ll also find some of Celina’s best dining options on the square. This includes Lucy’s on the Square, the Celina eatery famous for their comfort food creations and homemade pies.

2. Friday Night Market

If leisurely strolling through a farmer’s market is your idea of paradise, you’re not going to want to miss the Friday Night Market events in Celina. While traditional farmer’s markets are usually packed into a few hours on a weekend morning, Celina decided to go with a different approach.

Why not bring the community together on a Friday evening, when everyone is relaxed, ready to start the weekend and often looking for something to do?

The Friday Night Markets have become a tradition that connects the people of Celina with local farmers, producers, and artisans. More than a typical farmer’s market, there’s often at least one event planned to make the experience even more enjoyable.

The Friday Night Markets are typically held on the first Friday of every month from 6pm to 9pm.

3. Movie Night on the Square

For community fun that’s suitable for all ages, you’ll want to keep your eye on Celina’s calendar for one of their Movie Night on the Square events. The city of Celina regularly hosts an outdoor movie event where residents are invited to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and popcorn and settle in for a movie on the large outdoor screen.

It isn’t unusual for the folks of Celina to take Movie Night on the Square up a notch by turning it into a themed event – for example, their annual Star Wars night where everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters and enjoy themed activities.

If you’re new to Celina, Movie Night on the Square is a great way to meet new people and make friends in the community.

4. Old Celina Park

When life has been hectic, and you find yourself craving some fresh air and sunshine, the place you’ll want to head to is Old Celina Park.

The Celina government page considers Old Celina Park to be the crown jewel of parks in the area and is the community meeting spot for almost every youth sport in the area. What could be more fun than catching an impromptu little league game and cheering on your favorite team?

In addition to its sports fields, Old Celina Park provides the perfect way to spend a leisurely Texas afternoon with their catch and release pond. If fishing isn’t your thing, you can just sit back on the dock and enjoy sights and sounds of nature all around you.

5. Visit the Wineries

Celina, Texas is home to not one, but several amazing wineries. Whether you call Celina your home, or you’re just passing through, you’ll want to stop by for a tasting, tour and maybe a little souvenir to take back home with you.

At Caudalie Crest Winery, located on Weston Rd, you’ll find nothing pretentious about the wine experience in their relaxed country atmosphere. Not only will you get to taste some of the best local wines, you’ll also be in the company of the adorable Dwarf Nigerian dairy goats that roam the property.

The Eden Hill Vineyard follows suit in true Texas style with their vineyard that also doubles as a working farm where they grow produce and raise free-range chickens.

Eden Hill Vineyard is also committed to preserving precious water resources by completely irrigating the vineyard with rainwater collected in their own pond.

Their bright, airy tasting room with plenty of natural sunlight is open Thursday through Sunday from 1pm to 6pm. Private tours and tastings are also available by request.
