New Home and a New Community. What’s Not to Love?

Perks of Buying a New Home in a New Community

Shopping for a home? Two big decisions you’ll need to make fairly early in that journey are whether to search for new homes or resales, and whether to look in an established neighborhood or a brand new community. Now admittedly here at Taylor Morrison we’re big fans of new homes in new communities, and for many good reasons. This blog explores a bunch of those reasons including several you might not have considered before.

Reason 1: New Communities Mean More Location Choices

The big, bad housing crisis meant builders weren’t building. But with the economic recovery that has changed. Pent-up demand, continuing low interest rates, falling unemployment and rising wages have combined to fuel a bit of a new housing/new community boom. Right now for example Taylor Morrison is building new communities in markets across the U.S. And, like we always have, we’re building them in the places people want to live. From urban enclaves to suburban settings, we select locations that are close to the things that matter to you: quality public schools, transportation corridors, job centers, everyday conveniences and leisure-time activities. And that doesn’t even count the abundance of new homes (but we’ll get to that in a minute). It all adds up to more choices for you.

Reason 2: New Communities are NEW

Seems kind of obvious, but think about what that really means. The infrastructure within the community is new. The sewers and storm drains, the power and water lines, the streets and street lights are just a few examples. There’s also the entire concept of the way the community is laid out. In new Taylor Morrison master-planned communities streets are designed for optimum traffic flow. Neighborhoods are often connected to each other and the community amenities by pathways. Along with all this practical stuff there are also aesthetic advantages like new landscaping, water features and planned gathering spots.

Reason 3: Many New Communities Offer On-Site Amenities

Just about everywhere Taylor Morrison builds you’ll find one community (often many) with recreational amenities and social amenities that rival what you’d find in a world-class destination resort. That can include anything and everything from a community clubhouse with multi-purpose rooms, fully-equipped fitness centers, catering kitchens, lagoon pools and splash zones, full-service spas and restaurants, sports courts, marina facilities, bark parks, event lawns and amphitheaters, safe playgrounds and even full-time lifestyle directors to help residents enjoy it all. Wow!

Reason 4:  Everybody is a New Kid on the Block

In a brand new community, nobody needs to feel like the only newcomer.  It’s an opportunity to start with a clean slate and forge relationships with your neighbors. In many new Taylor Morrison communities there are planned community events. These bring strangers from all walks of life together and turn them into friends thanks to the common bond of a new community. Consider too the old adage that birds of a feather flock together. Often, new communities and new neighborhoods attract people in the same stage of life.

Reason 5: Early Birds Get the Savings

Buying in a new community can include some attractive perks. Special promotions can include savings on closing costs, upgrades, even HOA dues. The best way to keep on top of good deals is to join our VIP List. We’ll send you email updates about community progress, floor plan and price releases, special event and special offers.

Reason 6: You Get the Home You Really Want

A resale home is always going to be a compromise between what you really wanted and what you’ll settle for. But a brand new home is a blank canvas waiting for you to create your vision of a masterpiece! The earlier in the actual construction process you purchase, the more creativity you can express. Many floor plans include structural options such as adding an extra bedroom, a second-story, an outdoor kitchen or a fireplace. Other offer the flexibility of changing a formal living room to a den or converting a bedroom into a home office. Visit the “Floor Plan” page of any Taylor Morrison community where many plans let you select from available options and see for yourself how they work.

Even if you purchase one of our move-in ready homes, you’ll still have ample opportunity to put your personal stamp on the finished product. Once you commit to a floor plan and homesite, Taylor Morrison revs up the fun factor because you’ll get to visit our Design Studio. Working with a professional design consultant, you can choose from an amazing array of options and upgrades. These can include flooring, appliances, cabinetry, countertops, wall and window treatments, fixtures, hardware and much more.

Reason 7: More Than Just a Pretty Face

Floor plans and model homes are alluring. But we want you to “look under the hood” of a new Taylor Morrison home, too. What you’ll find is pretty impressive:
