Meet the women paving the way at Taylor Morrison.

Tess Hughes | Senior Permit Coordinator in Sarasota, FL

Tess Hughes spent her formative years on construction sites with her dad. While her role reaches far and wide, her day-to-day includes:

  • Working with county vendors on permitting documents to maintain construction timelines
  • Assisting superintendents in the field with permit questions

Let’s hear from Tess herself!

“My role challenges me in the best way and constantly motivates me to be more efficient and grow. As a permit coordinator, I get to learn so much about the building process in addition to engineering, county processes and relationships, and how all the departments in homebuilding come together to create that final product—that dream home.”

Let’s move west to Denver to meet our next team member!

Rose Rodriguez | Senior Division Cadence Manager in Denver, CO

Trailstone in Arvada, CO

After 22 years of industry experience, Rose has experienced countless aspects of homebuilding. Her current role involves:

  • Ensuring homebuilding plans are executed, including:
  • Timely procurement of permits
  • Starting homes on time
  • Assisting the build alongside area construction leadership and superintendents

Here’s what Rose has to say to women considering a construction career:

“For women interested in joining the construction or homebuilding industry, my biggest piece of advice is to stay curious and step confidently into opportunities, even if they feel a little outside your comfort zone. Our industry is incredibly broad, and there’s space for every skill set—whether that’s project management, field operations, design, estimating, trades, sales, IT, purchasing, or leadership.”

Onto Yardly, our build-to-rent homes with a focus on pet-friendly living!

Anna Fox | Build-To-Rent Superintendent in Charlotte, NC

Anna’s road to construction began as many careers after college do—unexpectedly. She studied Business Administration at East Carolina University and relocated to Charlotte, which led her to Rite Rug. In this role, she quickly built strong relationships with builders, which opened the door to a warranty manager role with M/I Homes and eventually into even more builder opportunities.

With over six years of builder experience and strong market name recognition, the Yardly team was thrilled when Anna joined the family. Her accomplishments include:

  • Thriving as a licensed North Carolina Building Contractor
  • Contributing to the award-winning Yardly City Park team
  • Completing homes ahead of schedule
  • Playing a major role in resolving HVAC challenges across the community
  • Overseeing the successful pouring of foundations
  • Overseeing construction of units … while in her third trimester during one of the hottest summers on record!

The build-to-rent spotlight continues with Superintendent Marissa Butts.

Marissa Butts | Build-To-Rent Superintendent in Charlotte, NC

Marissa is an award winner for her work with the Yardly Monroe and Yardly City Park teams. She studied Child Development and Family Relations before beginning her career at City Electric and transitioning into residential construction.

Marissa’s accomplishments include:

  • Elevating performance across communities through her high production volume
  • Mentoring new talent with patience and expertise
  • Mentoring our next build-to-rent spotlight, Kaila Perrault!

Kaila Perraut | Build-To-Rent Superintendent in Charlotte, NC

Kaila is a rising start at Yardly, joining in 2025 as an intern and quickly distinguishing herself. Her early interest in construction was inspired after watching her parents build multiple Jimmy John’s franchise locations. With a degree in Project Management and expert guidance from Marissa, she transitioned seamlessly into the Yardly City Park team.

Within Kaila’s first year, she successfully started and completed her own homes on time, setting a high standard and shaping the success of the Charlotte team.

Let’s head to Indiana to get to know Autumn Schmicker, Construction Superintendent.

Autumn Schmicker | Construction Superintendent in Indiana

Twelve Oaks in Shelbyville, IN

Autumn hopes that when other women see her successful career, they can see the construction industry as a fantastic and fulfilling career option. Her day-to-day includes:

  • Time and schedule management
  • Budget management
  • Assessing the quality of hundreds of builds she oversees

She reflects. “I love going through old neighborhoods that I’ve been a part of and being like ‘I helped with that house’ or ‘I know those people.’ It is really cool to kind of be a part of that chapter.”

Last but certainly not least, let’s meet Las Vegas Division Cadence Manager, Amber Reynolds.

Amber Reynolds | Division Cadence Manager in Las Vegas, NV

For six years, Amber has held the vital role of Division Candence Manager, checking homes during the build process and ensuring her team stays on schedule. She walks the homes with superintendents to check that the correct options and safety measures are implemented.

Words of Encouragement from Amber

Amber believes women truly are the future of construction.

“There’s roles in purchasing … field roles, even accounting roles in the homebuilding industry. It’s not just in the field and I would like to see women, more young women come into our industry. We are aging out, getting older, and we need more women in our industry.”

Her spirit and success are an inspiration for any women aspiring to join the field.

“It’s been rewarding to be in this industry and be able to deliver a beautiful home to a deserving family where you know memories are going to be made. I was part of that from the inception to pulling the permit, putting the roof on.”
