National Dog Day is officially observed each year on August 26. It’s a day to honor our loyal, lovable four-legged friends and to express our gratitude for a friendship that’s at least 14,000 years old! Here are fun facts revealed in the official 2019 National Dog Day survey that show just how strong that relationship is.
- California ranks Number One among all 50 states for people who love their dogs the most.
- 85% of respondents said the top reason they love their dog is because it comforts them.
- 86% of dog owners tell their dogs “I love you” at least once a month; 73% buy their buddy a toy once a month; 68% share their bed with their fur buddy and an amazing 39% of women (and 23% of men) say they’d rather spend time with their dog than go on a date!
